Whitney Shanley, MSN, BSN, APRN, FNP-C began her nursing journey after obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2003 at George Mason University. Over the next six years, she would work in some of the most prestigious hospitals such as Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC, Boston Children’s Hospital, Inova Fairfax Hospital, and Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington DC. She has nursing experience in such specialties as pediatric care, adult medical/surgical care, home infusion care, adolescent care, and pediatric emergency care. While working as a nurse manager at a pediatric primary care practice in 2009, she graduated with her Masters of Science in Nursing Education from George Mason University. She began her teaching career in the Fall of 2009 as GW School of Nursing welcomed their very first class. As a founding faculty member of the School of Nursing, Whitney Shanley proudly continues to teach our future nurses in the Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing program.
While teaching is a full-time passion, so is being a life-long learner. She graduated from the George Washington University School of Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner post-masters certification program in 2011 and has found great joy in caring for patients in the urgent care settings. In 2018, Mrs. Shanley began her next endeavor as a student in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice program at GW.
