Positions

Despite the pandemic, I remained active both inside and outside the GW community. I served as the executive director of Japanese Learning Inspired Vision and Engagement Talk 2020, and successfully transformed the event into a high-quality virtual format. I also served as the Immediate Past Co-President of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Teachers of Japanese until the end of 2020 in its advisory role. I served as a reviewer for the 2021 American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ) conference, as well as the Journal of Japanese Linguistics. I am a council member for the National Japan Bowl, and helped bring the event in its digital form again this year. I also serve as an executive committee member for the Japanese Education and Resource Network (J-LEARN). J-LEARN provides resources and information to the area schools with Japanese programs and people who are interested in Japanese language and culture. J-LEARN is working to bring Jr. Japan Bowl for elementary and middle school students in May. I am working on a manuscript entitled "Perspectives for Japanese Writing," a workbook of discourse grammar for Japanese language learners.
