Dr. Suse Anderson is Assistant Professor, Museum Studies at The George Washington University and host of Museopunks–the podcast for the progressive museum (presented by the American Alliance of Museums). Prior to joining GW, Anderson was Director of Audience Experience at The Baltimore Museum of Art, where she was responsible for creating a seamless and positive experience of the BMA for visitors to the museum and across its digital platforms.
Anderson was a Visiting Technologist at the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage in Philadelphia in 2018-19. In 2017/18, she was President of MCN (Museum Computer Network) and was Program Co-Chair for its annual conference in 2015/16. She has given keynote or plenary presentations at conferences including American Alliance of Museums (AAM), Museums & the Web (USA), Museums Australia (AUS), INTERCOM, Visitor Experience (VEX), the Small Museums Association, the Texas Museums Association and MCN. She was Co-Editor for CODE | WORDS: Technology and theory in the museum, an online experiment in online publishing and discourse (now a book) and Humanizing the Museum: Unproceedings from the MCN 2018 Conference, and in 2020, released her first a book titled The Digital Future of Museums: Conversations and Provocations, co-authored with Dr Keir Winesmith.
Anderson holds a PhD (Creative Arts) and a BFA (Hons - 1st class, Faculty Medal), both from The University of Newcastle, Australia, and a BArts (Comms-Journalism) from Charles Sturt University, Australia.
