I have become active in national policy in innovation and manufacturing in the clean energy economy with the Advanced Manufacturing Office of the Department of Energy. I work closely with the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Institute and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Manufacturing Demonstration Facility. I have served on the National Laboratory Collaborative Working Group to develop solutions to supply chain shortages in response to the COVID pandemic. I am currently serving on the Subcommittee on Advanced Manufacturing of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) to formulate a national strategy for advanced manufacturing where I am focused on education and workforce development. The four year strategy will be published September 2022. I am serving the MAE department on the ABET committee and the university as academic advisor to the sailing team.
