Dr. Scalzitti is an Associate Professor in the Program of Physical Therapy, School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), George Washington University, Washington DC. He is also the Associate Director of the Doctor of Health Sciences Program and is the co-director of Research for the Department of Health, Human Function, & Rehabilitation Sciences. His doctoral training is in disability studies and he has experience in the synthesis of research evidence, including twelve years developing and coordination two evidence-based databases for the American Physical Therapy Association. His research focuses on the dissemination of research for practice. He is currently working on a number of systematic reviews related to physical therapist practice and is a member of a team of international clinicians that has developed four clinical practice guidelines for the physical therapy management of knee conditions. Dr. Scalzitti has authored a number of book chapters on measurement and is one of the primary authors of the text, The Rehabilitation Specialists' Handbook. Dr. Scalzitti teaches research methods and evidence based practice in the Program of Physical Therapy and the Doctor of Health Sciences Program. He also teaches systematic reviews in the Translational Health Sciences PhD program. He was awarded a Golden Apple Award for teaching in 2016 and 2020.
