This is Dr. Bhati's fourth year an Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing at the George Washington University. She teaches in both the accelerated, and the RN-BSN programs. Prior to the George Washington University she was a Professor of Nursing at Northern Virginia Community College, where she won several awards for scholarship and teaching excellence. She has extensive experience in nursing academia having taught courses using face to face, online, and simulation Pedagogies. She has 30 years of Nursing experience in various clinical settings as staff nurse, charge nurse, nurse manager, and nurse educator. Her clinical experience includes, Geriatric, medical surgical, public health, community health, home health, and pediatric Nursing. She has practiced in Acute care and Community settings. She currently practices as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Alexandria Health Department in the Transgender, gay and Lesbian clinic, and family planning clinics. Her previous Nurse Practitioner experience includes primary care, urgent care, diabetes care, and research.
Dr.Bhati’s research involves sleep disturbance and postpartum depression in first time mothers. Her other research interests are the measurement of caring in nursing students, gender inequality, health equity, and racial disparities. Dr. Bhati is an active member of the Sigma Theta Tau, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the National League of Nursing.
