Richard C Thornton Faculty Member

Dr. Richard C. Thornton is Professor of History and International Affairs at George Washington University where he has taught for the past fifty years, specializing in the history of American foreign policy. He received his BA from Colgate University in 1961 where he was Phi Beta Kappa and his Ph.D degree at the University of Washington in 1966. He is president of the non-profit Institute for the Study of Strategy and Politics and editor of its journal. Dr. Thornton is also a former Air Force Reserve Intelligence Officer (Lt.Col. Ret 1985).
