Rebecca D Mance Faculty Member

Dr. Mance is a full time faculty member at The George Washington University School of Nursing. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New Mexico, a Master's of Science in Nursing with a focus in Community and Public Health Leadership from the University of Virginia, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from George Washington University. In addition, she is a dual Certified Family Nurse Practitioner through ANCC and AANP. Finally, Dr. Mance is a Certified Nurse Educator through the National League of Nursing. Located in the nation’s capital, George Washington University (GWU) has a rich and diverse population. Having come from New Mexico, Dr. Mance brings with her a vast understanding of various cultures and peoples which she imparts on the community, her peers and the students in which she teaches. Her pedagogy, knowledge, enthusiasm and her ability to engage her students both in an out of the classroom is commendable. She has established a true track record of providing exemplary education and is committed to the quality improvement of her courses. Outside of the classroom Dr. Mance has been involved in various University committees, but the most notable include Student Rights and Responsibilities and Academic Integrity. Dr. Mance has been an active voice and has been instrumental in advocating and educating students and faculty regarding issues around integrity. She is certain to tie this to the ethical and moral obligations to her students and their future careers as nurses. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Mance is the Undergraduate Counselor for the Phi Epsilon Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. She is also a practicing Family Nurse Practitioner. Both her academic leadership as well as her clinical practice have been sources of knowledge and support for her students as well as her peers. Her influence on nursing lies in her advocacy of the underserved and disadvantaged through her teaching, clinical practice, and volunteerism.
