After earning my B.S. in biology education I entered paramedic school and became a flight paramedic at West Virginia University Hospitals and Clinics in Morgantown, WV. While there I also earned an MA in Education Administration and was advanced to Director of Emergency and Trauma Services. I earned a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Oklahoma, served three years as the President of the Children's Hospital of Oklahoma, and moved on to the Medical University of South Carolina where I was Administrator of the Children's Hospital and also earned my Doctorate of Healthcare Administration and Policy. From there I served nine years as President and Chief Executive Officer of Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters Health System and was recruited to Austin, Texas, where I was President and Chief Executive Officer of Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas and ultimately CEO of the Seton Family of Hospitals, an 11 hospital system that is part of Ascension Health, the largest non-profit faith-based healthcare system in the U.S. I finished my practice career out at the Children's Hospitals of Minnesota in the Twin Cities area, retiring in December of 2018.
