Positions
Since arriving at the University I have worked especially in Early American Literature and related areas. I also have taught courses in the Eighteenth Century. My current scholarly focus branches out from those origins because I am at work on the American historian and man of letters Henry Adams, whose family origins in early America and whose background in the Eighteenth Century locate him somewhat away from his late Nineteenth Century contemporaries. In addition the interconnections of history and literature are central to my interests.
