Leighton Ku, PhD, MPH, is a professor of health policy and management and Director of the Center for Health Policy Research. He has more than 25 years of experience as a researcher and analyst focused on issues relating to health access and health insurance coverage, particularly for disadvantaged populations. He is a nationally-recognized expert, focusing on Medicaid, health reform, the health care safety net, immigrant health care and promoting prevention through insurance programs. He has also taught research methods and statistics at the graduate level at GW, both in the public health and public policy schools, for more than 25 years. In addition to his role at GW, he has helped develop the District of Columbia's Health Insurance Exchange as an appointed board member of the Health Exchange Benefit Authority. Prior to coming to GW, he was on the senior staff of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and the Urban Institute.
