Positions
I am committed to doing new research in Kant studies, work that builds to some degree on my previous publications while also being wholly original. To this end I have two pieces under review, a third commissioned piece due April 1, and a paper on Kant's political theory that I will finish and submit over the summer. I continue to be an active member of the philosophy department, participating in all meetings and events (I attend nearly every brown bag and have attended all our pedagogy workshops), and assuming the position of associate director of graduate studies. I have also continued my service on the CCAS undergraduate studies committee. Finally, I remain a committed and experimental teacher, continually trying new pedagogical techniques and strategies. Right now my students are submitting one-syllable summaries for nearly every reading in the class, making it indispensable that all students are prepared for each class. In addition, I am supervising or have supervised several honors theses or independent studies this year: in Fall I supervised Sarah Gregory's honors thesis and Dylan Sapienza's independent study as a Thacher Reynolds fellow; and this Spring I am continuing as Dylan's independent study supervisor while also supervising Hannah Trimarchi's honors thesis on the ethics of mask mandates during covid (this is a bit out of my expertise but no one else was willing to advise and as an honors student the thesis is required). I also have written seven recommendation letters since Fall term started.
