Karen Louise Schaubert Goodman Faculty Member

Karen Goodman PT, DPT is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Human Function and Rehabilitation Sciences in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Pre-Physical Therapy and her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut. She later received her Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Marymount University. She has been a member of the George Washington University physical therapy faculty since 2018. Prior to her arrival, she held adjunct positions at the George Washington University and Marymount University. Her primary areas of teaching include the assessment and management of individuals with neurologic and cardiopulmonary dysfunction. She is also the Academic Director of the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital/The George Washington University Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program. Her research interests focus on educational research and research in neurologic practice including the treatment of individuals with vestibular dysfunction and pain neuroscience. She has practiced clinically within MedStar National Rehabilitation Network since 2004 in the acute care and outpatient settings. She is a Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist, a Certified Vestibular Specialist, and a Certified Brain Injury Specialist. Dr. Goodman is a member of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy, the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy, the Academy of Education, and the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section within the American Physical Therapy Association.
