Positions

In addition to my teaching, clinical and administrative duties in Emergency Medicine, I am striving to find ways to provide quality education to medical students in the developing world, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. I am the Senior Academic adviser to th SEED Global Health that sends medical and nursing educators to Africa. In that role I am primarily responsible for preparing the volunteers for their service and for assisting with medical education issues as they arise. I also serve as an independent reviewer for the medical needs of the volunteers who are being considered for selection. I have developed and maintain an interactive website that catalogs all e-learning resources available for global medical education and establishes a standard evaluation rubric for these resources. (synDRME.org) This is now being used by several medical schools across SSA to augment or supplement the education of medical students who might not have access to adequate faculty or other resources. I have run a board review program for the emergency medicine residency and chair one of the competency committees. I am a PD mentor for a group of rising fourth year students and another group of rising fourth year students. I continue to teach extensively in POM 4. I am also one of the co-directors of the health policy fellowship for residents that runs in September in March. I now serve as the chair of the Advisory Board for the new Leaders in Global Health Equity program in the SPHHS.
