Roberto Izurieta is the Director of Latin American Projects for The Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He has a master’s degree in Political Science with a double major in Speech Communication from Southern Illinois University and another master’s degree in Political Management from the GSPM at the George Washington University. He is a LASPAU fellow and was the first Latin to be named a Rising Star by Campaign & Election Magazine. Izurieta has written many articles and is author of two books. Izurieta has worked on several political campaigns in Latin American and Spain. From 1998-2000, he was the Communication Director for the President of Ecuador, Jamil Mahuad. He was the advisor of Alejandro Toledo of Peru; Vicente Fox of Mexico, Alvaro Colom of Guatemala; Horacio Cartes of Paraguay; Iñigo Urkullo of Spain; and he was also advisor of the strategy team of Enrique Peña Nieto of México. He is a frequent political analyst and opinion contributor for CNN in Spanish.
