Hua Liang is Professor of statistics and biostatistics in the department of Statistics at GWU. Before joining GWU in August, 2013, he had worked at the University of Rochester Medical Center from 2005 as an associate professor (2005-2009) and Professor (2009-2013), and an assistant member (professor) at the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital from (2002 - 2005) and headed the Biostatistics Core of the institution infectious disease program.
Among his honors and contributions, he is a Fellow of ASA, IMS , Royal Statistical Society and a member of the International Statistical Institute.
He has published two books and over 180 journal articles. In addition, he has been an invited speaker at many conferences/meetings, including Joint Statistical Meetings; the Eastern North American Region (ENAR) of the International Biometric Society; International Chinese Statistical Association (ICSA); International Mathematical Statistics (IMS); International Statistical Institute (ISI). Dr. Liang had served as an Associate Editor for Biostatistics, Electronic Journal of Statistics, JASA, Journal of Nonparametric Statistics, and Journal of Systems Science and Complexity.
He has been awarded two R01 grants, one training grant funded by NIH,
and five NSF grants since 2004.
