Declan Robert Cullen Faculty Member

The past year has been a very active year for me in terms of research and teaching. I published two articles and continue to wok on many more. I continue to work on an undergraduate textbook in cultural geography which is due to be completed in May 2022. My research on automated geographies and the gig economy continues and with my colleagues we have recently submitted a book manuscript for review at Princeton University Press. In terms of teaching, I taught six classes this academic year and two online summer classes. I have also organized and participated in numerous workshops on teaching engagement and have been an active participant in school discussions around pedagogy and teaching engagement strategies. This has been my third year as Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Geography Department. It has been a very busy year advising given the straitened circumstances our students find themselves in. I have continued to work on three fronts 1. Streamlining administration and communication with majors 2. Developing major recruitment strategies. 3. Collecting information and formulating strategies for career development. I am currently a member of the CCAS undergraduate advising committee. In this capacity I have been working on approving new academic programs, reviewing special interdisciplinary majors and micro-minor proposals. I have also served as a faculty reviewer and judge on numerous CCAS prizes.
