Dhinakar Jeberaj Jayaseelan Faculty Member

Positions

Dhinu Jayaseelan, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, Associate Professor, graduated with his BS in Kinesiology from James Madison University (2007), Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The George Washington University (2010) and completed fellowship training in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago (2014). He is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and full Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. He has been teaching within the GW Physical Therapy Program since soon after graduation, as a core faculty member since 2014, and serves as co-academic director of the orthopedic residency held in conjunction with the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr Jayaseelan's primary area of teaching is in the movement science coursework, management of musculoskeletal dysfunction courses, and an advanced manual therapy elective. He maintains clinical practice at the GW Hospital Outpatient Rehabilitation Center. Dr Jayaseelan's primary research interests include the utilization of manual therapy, management of tendionpathy and patellofemoral pain, and pain science. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters related to his research interests, and serves as a content expert reviewer for a number of orthopedic, manual therapy and sports journals as well. He has received a number of awards for his teaching and research contributions. He is a member of the orthopedic and education sections of the APTA. Additionally, Dr Jayaseelan serves as a faculty member in the Virginia Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Institute and a senior faculty advisor in the Maitland Australian-Physiotherapy Seminars Orthopedic Fellowship.
