SHORT BIO: Cynthia Deitch is an Associate Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and of Sociology; she also has an appointment in Trachtenberg School. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has served as Associate Director of the Women's Studies Program since 1996, along with several terms as Interim Director. Her research and publications have focused on the intersection of gender, race and class in the labor market, including studies of economic restructuring and displaced workers, work-family benefits, the evolution of Title VII employment policy, and the impact sex and race discrimination lawsuits. Recent research has been on the employment rights of immigrant women workers in the U.S, on displaced workers in the 2008-2012 recession and recovery, and on paid sick leave policy. Recent research is on the sexual harassment of men by other men in the workplace, and on participants in Black Lives Matter protests.
