Dr. David Diemert is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Microbiology, Immunology, and Tropical Medicine at George Washington University. His research is focused on conducting clinical trials to develop new vaccines for infectious diseases of global importance, including COVID-19, HIV, Zika, and neglected tropical diseases. and viral infections. He has served as the Principal Investigator on multiple Phase 1 to 3 clinical trials of hookworm, schistosomiasis, HIV, COVID-19, malaria, and flavivirus vaccines, in the United States, Brazil, and Africa. Additionally, he has developed a controlled infection model (CHIM) at GW to test the efficacy of investigational human hookworm vaccines, and is currently involved in a project to transfer this CHIM to hookworm-endemic areas of Brazil.
