This past year I have seen the benefit of allowing the FEMA award work, my own work on curriculum and teaching, and the literature review of clinical research education practices to come together in a more holistic view of how we educate, train, and continue to develop health professionals including the medical community. The FEMA award required us to "educate" the sponsor, FEMA, and to reorient how the training would be developed, organized and delivered. It resulted in much more work, however, a much better product than FEMA anticipated Assessing real learning is difficult without longitudinal tracking of trainees. Which brings us now to reassessing how we educate clinical researchers and support them in environments where change is quite prevalent and skills must be updated continuously. In conclusion, this year has brought about an integration of educational strategies for continuing education audiences, our online classrooms and our community work. I believe ongoing refinement of these blended approaches for all audiences, is important and can continue to set GW apart from others.
