Positions

I am primarily interested in Buddhist philosophy and intellectual history. I study the intersections between Buddhist Philosophy, contemporary philosophy, and cognitive science. My research focuses on topics such as philosophy of mind, cognitive science, ethics, and contemplative practices. My intellectual history research focuses on religion in the modern period, especially the Buddhist renaissance in modern China. My current book project explores the role of Indian Buddhist philosophy in the formation of modern Chinese Buddhist thought and is under contract with Brill Press. In my next project, I plan to introduce the Yogācāra School of Buddhist Philosophy to students and scholars of philosophy as part of an effort to increase the intellectual diversity in academia and make Buddhist philosophy more accessible to non-specialists. This year, I designed and taught a new course, redesigned another course and introduced technology based assignments and teaching to my classes. I have supervised a senior thesis and guided independent study of a philosophy MA student. Two of my students won the Strasser writing award this year. One of my students showed interest to work with me publication of her paper in an academic journal. We are planning to work on it this summer if she will have time.
