Dr. Faraz Covelli is a health care workforce researcher interested in nurse practitioner (NP) workforce issues, with particular emphasis on the novice NP workforce transition into primary care. She is also interested in alternative workforce solutions to improve patient access to primary preventive care and social mission in nursing education. She has recently developed the first instrument to measure the novice NP transition to practice as well as a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) NP Minimum Data Set as a consultant for the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF). She is currently working on a DNP Outcomes Study funded by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). Dr. Faraz Covelli is the project director for the Social Mission in Nursing Education Study at the GWU Mullan Institute for Health Workforce Equity, funded by a Robert Wood Johnson Grant. She serves as the Governance Committee Chair for Sigma Theta Tau International Phi Epsilon Chapter and is member of the Student & Academic Affairs Committee at GWU SON as well as the Libraries Committee at GWU, and is active in mentoring students in career issues. She maintains her clinical practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
